Ken Holden passed away at 5:00 AM this morning (Sunday 6/23/01).

This is the message I received from a friend of Kenneth Holden on Sunday June 23.

I didn't know Kenneth very well and had only spoken to him on the phone a couple of times.  Kenneth was born on June 24, 1927 and died one day before his birthday this year.  I first ran into Ken back in October of 2000, while setting up the web site for the Towne Family.  I was researching the Towne Family and noticed his page describing the Towne Family Association.  I contacted him asking for more information and although he was sick, he provided it gladly and it seems he was in good spirits.

I didn't know much about Ken, but from his emails he told me he was from Buffalo and had lived in Houston for the last 40 years. I don't think he had children because he never mentioned them.  I reread his emails to me over the last 8 months today to get a little better feel for this stranger/relative.

It is hard to describe someone from a list of emails .  I think his humor came through in his email.  I also feel that he was glad to have spoken with someone from his family although we are about 8th cousins.

I told Ken that my site was for all people and if he wanted, I could provide a place for the Holden lineage.  He was gracious enough to send me a list of his family.  I did not get around to placing the information on  about Kenneth by the time he passed away.

It is hard for me to write how I feel about Kenneth Holden.  I barely knew him and yet I feel like we were friends.  I feel that he was a good man.  I wish I had known him better.
